FAQ

Q + A

Here are answers to some of the questions that many people ask about this amazing concept.

Does a sheep cost HK$500?

To work out how much an item costs, Oxfam Hong Kong looks at examples in the places where we work. For example, a sheep in Gansu province of China does cost HK$500. It may cost a little more or less in other places around the world, or even in different parts of China. This amount is likely also to cover costs of other parts of the project, such as vaccination and training. (See How it works for more information)

If someone gets a sheep, what do I get?

You receive the satisfaction of making a difference in the world. You also receive a card to give to the special person for whom you are making this donation. Inside the card, we will outline information about how much your donation can achieve.

Can I send the card myself?

Yes, you can, or we can send the card directly to the recipient. If you want us to send it, you can even write a message that we'll put on the card and send on.

What will the card look like?

Here are samples:
Printed cards:

(Note: you can also choose a blank card, with no personalised message, to be sent directly to you.)

E-cards:

How long does it take for a card to be delivered?

Special Reminder for Christmas 2016: Please make your order on or before 20 Dec (Tue) to ensure your printed card can be delivered to your dad on time. You may also consider to send a ecard, it is more fast and Green!

We need up to 1-2 days to process your order form. Then it is up to the post office, maybe 1-2 more days within Hong Kong. Remember, though, at Christmas or Lunar New Year, postal services run a bit more slowly.
